Find out where you were on a specific date
Whether it's an insurance claim, an expense report, a parking ticket dispute or just memory, your Google Maps Timeline may answer it – if location history was on at the time.

On the phone
Google Maps › profile picture › Your Timeline › tap the calendar and choose the date. You see visits and trips for that day. Going back many months day by day is slow, and the small screen makes comparison hard.
On a computer
- Export your Timeline from the phone (Android: Settings › Location › Timeline › Export; iPhone: Google Maps › Settings › Location & privacy) and copy the file to your computer – see details.
- Open it in Trackmere and jump to the date: visits with arrival and departure times, how you travelled between them, and the route on a map.
- Print the day or export it to Excel/CSV.
If the day is empty
- Location history may have been off, the phone off or without signal.
- Older data may have been lost in the move to on-device storage – see lost Timeline data.
- Records-only (raw point) history: Trackmere detects visits from the points and marks them as estimated.
See your history on a big screen. Trackmere opens Android Timeline.json, iPhone location-history.json and older Google Takeout files in your browser: map, day-by-day timeline, places, distances, days per country, and export to Excel, CSV, GPX, KML or GeoJSON. Your locations never leave your computer. The map, days, places and days-per-country are free; exports are free for 31 days of data, and a $12 lifetime license covers all of it.
Questions and answers
Is Timeline proof of where I was?
It's a record from your own phone and may be useful, but it isn't official evidence. Accuracy varies (GPS, Wi-Fi, cell).
Can I look up someone else's location?
Only open location history that is yours or that you are allowed to access.
