Export your Google Maps Timeline to Excel
Mileage logs, expense claims, a travel diary or your own analysis all start with a spreadsheet. Trackmere makes one from your Timeline export.
Steps
- Open the file(s) in Trackmere and pick the date range.
- Click Excel (.xlsx) – or a CSV if you prefer.
- Open it in Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers or LibreOffice.
The Excel workbook
| Sheet | Columns |
|---|---|
| Countries | country, code, days present, nights (3 a.m.), first and last day |
| Days | one row per date: countries, where you were at 3 a.m., has data |
| Timeline | type (visit/journey), start, end, duration, name, address, coordinates, mode, distance km, country, nearest city, estimated, source file |
| Places | place, visits, total hours, first and last visit, coordinates, country, city |
CSV files
- Timeline CSV: the same rows as the Timeline sheet
- All points CSV: every recorded point with UTC and local time, accuracy and source
- Day-by-day CSV and days per country CSV
CSV files are UTF-8 with a BOM so Excel shows accents correctly, and cells that look like formulas are neutralised.
Questions and answers
Are times in local time?
Yes – in the time zone you choose, or the local offset saved in Android exports if you tick that option. The points CSV also has UTC.
Is the distance exact?
It is Google’s estimate for each journey. For Records.json-only history, Trackmere estimates journeys from your points and marks them.
