Convert your Timeline to GPX or KML
GPX and KML are the formats other map tools understand. Trackmere writes them from any Google Timeline export, with times kept.
Steps
- Open your file(s) in Trackmere.
- Choose the date range (or a year) at the top.
- In Export, click GPX or KML (Google Earth).
What is in the file
| GPX | KML | |
|---|---|---|
| Routes | One track per day, split where there are gaps over an hour, with a time on every point | One path per day (and gap), with a time span |
| Places | Waypoints with arrival time, name/address when known | Placemarks with arrival–departure time span |
| Opens in | GPS and outdoor apps, QGIS, many fitness tools | Google Earth, QGIS; Google My Maps for smaller files |
Also available
GeoJSON for web maps and GIS, and CSV with one row per point (see Excel / CSV).
Questions and answers
Are the routes exact roads?
They connect the points your phone recorded. Where Google only stored a start and an end, the line is straight.
Can I export just one trip?
Yes – set From and To to the days of the trip before exporting.
