View your Google Maps Timeline on a computer
Timeline used to live at google.com/maps/timeline. After Google moved it onto phones, that page no longer shows your history, and the phone app shows one day at a time. If you export your Timeline once, you can look at all of it at once on a computer.
Three steps
- Export your Timeline from your phone (Android and iPhone steps) and copy the file to your computer.
- Open Trackmere and choose the file. It is read in the browser – nothing is uploaded.
- Use the map and the day panel: pick a year, step through days, click a place to zoom in.
What you see
- A heatmap of everywhere you have been, or the exact path of one day
- Each day’s visits with arrival and departure times, and the journeys between them with travel mode and distance
- Your most visited places, with total hours and first/last visit
- Days per country and distances per year
Older history from Google Takeout
If you downloaded “Location History (Timeline)” from Google Takeout before the change, open that zip too – see Records.json and Semantic Location History. Old and new files can be opened together; overlaps are merged.
Questions and answers
Does this bring back the Google Timeline website?
No. It is a separate viewer for the file you export. Your Timeline itself stays on your phone, managed by Google Maps.
Do I need an account?
No account, no sign-in, no upload. Open the app page and choose your file.
